This Water Resources Engineering course provides a comprehensive introduction to the science and engineering principles used to manage and design water systems. It is designed for students and professionals who want to understand how water moves through the environment and how engineering solutions are applied to manage this vital resource.

The course begins with an introduction to water resources engineering systems, explaining how hydrology and hydraulics work together to study water movement, distribution, and usage. Learners will explore how engineers design systems that ensure safe and efficient water supply and management.

It also covers the concept of water balance (hydrologic budget), which helps in understanding the distribution of water in natural systems such as rainfall, evaporation, and runoff. This is essential for effective water planning and resource management.

A key focus of the course is rainfall analysis using Intensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) curves. Learners will understand how rainfall data is analyzed to support infrastructure design such as drainage systems, dams, and flood control structures.

In addition, the course introduces practical engineering applications such as flow measurement, pipe sizing, and pump selection, which are essential for designing water distribution systems.

By the end of this course, learners will have a strong foundation in water resources engineering and will be able to understand and analyze basic hydrological and hydraulic systems used in real-world water management projects.
