This course provides a full overview of process engineering concepts and the use of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) in industrial chemical engineering projects. Designed for engineers and students, it combines theoretical foundations with practical industry applications to prepare learners for real-world process design challenges.

Learners will explore the role of a process engineer, project activities, required documentation, and career pathways. The course details the stages of process design from conceptualization to startup, including simulation, process flow diagrams (PFDs), control schemes, and energy conservation techniques. Key equipment topics include distillation and absorption towers, separators, heat exchangers, compressors, and control valves. Design principles, selection criteria, and troubleshooting strategies are illustrated through real-world examples and case studies.

A major focus is placed on P&ID interpretation, showing how diagrams communicate process flow, instrumentation, control systems, safety devices, and operational constraints. Safety and reliability topics such as pressure relief systems, HAZOP, SIL studies, and plant isolation procedures are also covered. The course emphasizes best practices for pipe sizing, thermal design, and equipment optimization, enabling learners to make informed design decisions.

By the end of the course, learners gain a deep understanding of process engineering fundamentals, P&ID usage, process safety, and the skills needed for successful chemical engineering project execution.
