This Operations Management course provides a complete understanding of how organizations manage processes to deliver goods and services efficiently. It starts with an introduction to Operations Management and the Transformation Model, followed by inventory management techniques including EOQ, EPQ, ABC analysis, JIT, and vendor-managed inventory. Learners explore demand planning for unexpected, seasonal, peak, and chase demands, as well as periodic vs perpetual inventory systems. The course also covers supply chain management, logistics, vertical integration, strategic alliances, benchmarking, and the Theory of Constraints. Essential planning tools like forecasting (qualitative & quantitative), Master Production Schedule (MPS), and planning systems comparisons (MRP, MRP II, ERP) are reviewed. Topics on capacity planning, design vs effective capacity, utilization rates, and layout strategies (product, process, fixed) are included. Quality is emphasized through ISO 9000/14000, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management (TQM). Lean tools such as Just-in-Time (JIT), Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, and waste elimination are also explained. By the end of this course, learners gain the skills to optimize processes, improve quality, reduce costs, and ensure operational efficiency in manufacturing or service environments.
