Intro to Rust Programming & GUI Development is a hands-on course that takes you from Rust fundamentals to building real desktop applications. The series begins with installing Rust, writing your first program, and learning Cargo for project management. You will explore essential programming concepts such as variables, mutability, constants, shadowing, data types, functions, and control flow including if/else statements and loops.
The course includes practice exercises, such as creating the Nth Fibonacci function and building simple games like a guessing game, to reinforce understanding of Rust’s syntax and programming patterns. You then move into practical GUI development, starting with Iced, an Elm-inspired framework, for building responsive desktop applications.
Advanced sessions guide you through building a CSS parser and working with Rust’s Immediate Mode GUI framework, Egui, to create performant desktop apps with SVG rendering, pan/zoom functionality, and custom title bars. Each project teaches real-world problem solving and idiomatic Rust development practices.
By the end of this course, you will have mastered Rust fundamentals and applied them to interactive GUI projects, giving you the skills to create efficient, modern, and visually rich desktop applications with Rust.
