This Modern Embedded Systems Programming course equips students and professionals with the skills needed to develop efficient, reliable, and maintainable embedded software. Starting with the fundamentals of C programming, the course explores variables, pointers, arrays, functions, modules, and preprocessor directives tailored to embedded applications. Students learn about startup code, vector tables, exception and interrupt handling, and how ARM Cortex-M CPUs execute programs from reset to main.

Advanced topics include real-time operating systems (RTOS), context switching, preemptive scheduling, synchronization, and mutual exclusion mechanisms. The course also covers object-oriented programming in C and C++, including encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism, applied to embedded software design. Event-driven programming, active object patterns, state machines (hierarchical and input-driven), and automatic code generation are explained with practical examples.

Other modules teach software tracing, assertions, unit testing, low-power design techniques, and kernel implementations such as QV, QK, and Zephyr RTOS. By the end of this course, learners will confidently design, implement, and debug embedded applications for modern microcontrollers, making it ideal for students, engineers, and professionals in robotics, automation, and IoT development.
