Job Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor Engineer is responsible for cost management and accurate quantity take-off for projects, starting from the preliminary estimation stage through to the financial closeout of the project. This role aims to ensure project execution within the approved budget, control costs, and verify executed quantities against drawings and contracts, while utilizing modern modeling technologies (BIM) in quantity take-off processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately perform quantity take-offs for structural, architectural, and MEP works from 2D drawings (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (Revit/BIM) models.
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and estimate total project costs at various project stages.
  • Analyze prices and prepare cost estimates for contracting items based on current market prices and contract conditions.
  • Monitor actual project costs on a regular basis and compare them with the approved budget (Budget vs. Actual), analyzing causes of any cost variances.
  • Review, audit, and approve periodic payment certificates for contractors and suppliers.
  • Study and review Variation Orders and financial Claims, and assess their financial and time impact on the project.
  • Coordinate continuously with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure work progress aligns with planned financial cash flows.
  • Contribute to drafting and reviewing engineering contracts and their appendices to safeguard the company’s financial rights.
  • Prepare periodic cost and progress reports (Cost Reports) and submit them to senior management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in quantity surveying and cost management within the contracting or engineering consultancy sector.
  • Engineering Software: Full proficiency in Autodesk Revit, BIM technology, and extracting quantities from models, in addition to AutoCAD.
  • Specialized Software: Experience using quantity take-off and estimation software such as PlanSwift or similar, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Contractual Knowledge: Good knowledge of engineering contracts (such as FIDIC) and international and local technical specifications.
  • Language: Proficiency in English (spoken and written), especially technical and contractual terminology.
  • Personal Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to negotiate and work under pressure
