Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial and cost-related aspects of construction projects, from initial cost planning through final account closure. The role requires strong expertise in cost control, contract administration, valuations, and commercial reporting, with a focus on delivering projects within budget while maintaining quality, safety, and contractual compliance.


Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Planning & Budget Control

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for construction projects.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets and report cost variances.
  • Forecast final project costs and cash flow requirements.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

2. Measurement & Valuations

  • Prepare, review, and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and measurement take-offs.
  • Conduct interim valuations and certify contractor and subcontractor payments.
  • Prepare final accounts and manage project close-out documentation.

3. Contract Administration

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting contracts (FIDIC and bespoke forms).
  • Manage contractual correspondence, notices, variations, and change orders.
  • Evaluate variations, claims, and extensions of time (EOT).
  • Support dispute resolution, negotiations, and commercial settlements with clients and subcontractors.

4. Procurement & Subcontract Management

  • Participate in procurement processes, commercial evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, payment status, and compliance with contractual obligations.

5. Reporting & Commercial Governance

  • Prepare monthly cost reports, commercial dashboards, and management summaries.
  • Provide commercial input into project reviews, risk assessments, and forecasting meetings.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, cost control systems, and audit-ready documentation.


Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.


Experience

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in construction, EPC, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in cost control, valuations, and contract administration.
  • Experience working on GCC projects (UAE / KSA preferred).
  • Strong experience with FIDIC contracts is highly desirable.
