As we expand our forage crop operations, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Manager – Alfalfa Production to oversee and optimize all aspects of alfalfa cultivation.
The Opportunity
This is a strategic and hands-on role, responsible for managing the full lifecycle of alfalfa farming—from land preparation and seeding to harvesting and post-harvest handling. The position requires deep technical knowledge of forage crop production, strong operational oversight, and a results-driven mindset to ensure high yields, crop quality, and cost efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all alfalfa farming activities, including soil preparation, irrigation scheduling, seeding, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting.
- Lead and train field teams, ensuring effective labor deployment and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Monitor crop performance, identify and address issues promptly, and implement best practices for optimal forage growth and regrowth cycles.
- Manage irrigation systems and water use efficiently, ensuring sustainability and consistency in crop health.
- Maintain detailed records of field activities, inputs, and yields; analyze data to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to align crop production with procurement and commercial needs.
