Purpose of the Job:

Ensure a proper coordination between the HSES Area Advisors and all the departments to ensure that employees are working in safe working environment, promoting, and maintaining an effective HSES management system and safe working culture within the organization. To develop, administer and ensure continual improvement of KarmSolar’s Health, Safety, Environmental, and social (HSES) Management Systems to assure ‘industry best practice’.

Primary Tasks:

• Ensure a proper coordination between the HSES Area Advisors and all the company involved parties to facilitate a proper communication and coordination to meet the HSES department objectives and targets.
• Plan and coordinate sites visit plan for the HSES Area advisors and set priorities according to the HSES objectives.
• Create, participate, and lead internal audits for all the company different sites.
• Leading the periodic HSES coordination meetings between the different parties and ensure all the action plans are executed according to the targeted closure date.
• Participate in the contractors and service providers prequalification and management.
• Encourage and support creating a blame-free working culture where employees can report errors or near misses without fear of reprimand or punishment which includes the STOP WORK AUTHORITY program.
• Conduct in depth Accident / Incident investigations, identifies appropriate corrective action, and verifies such recommendations have been implemented.
• Plan and conduct HSES inspections, Audits, and prepares operational reviews form the HSES point of view.
• Assists in the planning, implementation and participation in the organization’s Emergency Response Plans, Drills and Community Awareness strategies.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and delivery of HSES Training as and when required.
• Assist with ensuring that staff are kept abreast of the organization’s HSES policies, procedures, and programs through on-going communication.
• Maintain HSES records and documentation according to the document control management strategy.
• Train workers in the proper use of safety protection devices ensuring such training is appropriately documented.
• Conduct risk assessments and assist in the development of solutions and implementation of strategies to address identified key risks areas.
• Provide support to Project and Operation team in all aspects of occupational health, safety, environmental, and social issues.
• Track and follow up on the HSES action needed actions, including actions from internal and external audit findings.
• Collect and manage HSES Statistic reporting, track and provide regular HSES performance reporting to the direct Manager.
• Assist in the development of project specific HSES procedures.
• Ensure lessons learnt from incident investigations are disseminated to all employees and contractors throughout the area of responsibility.

Educational background, Skills and Experience required:

• 
  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental, industrial, science, medicine or similar.
• HSES Qualification such as NEBOSH IGC or equivalent
• Basic HSES qualifications such as OSHA training courses, IOSH MS Certificate, Risk Assessment training, working at height training, Confined space training, lifting & rigging safety training, and electrical safety & LOTO training.
• 3-7 years of experience in HSE field, Solar Energy background is a plus.
• Good analytical, coordination, communication, and conflict management skills.
• Strong Leadership, communication, team working skills, and ability to convince/impact others.
• Sound understanding of HSE legislative and other requirements.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
