AlgoDriven is hiring a Backend & Data Engineering Support Engineer in Egypt to work closely with our Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams. This is a hands-on role combining PHP + Node.js backend development with practical data processing, scraping, automation, and general engineering tasks.
If you enjoy solving data problems, building scrapers, automating workflows, and supporting ML/AI teams with clean, well-structured code — this is the perfect role for you.
🛠 What You’ll Be Doing
- Build backend APIs and services using PHP and Node.js
- Assist the data science team with data preparation, cleaning, transformation, and pipelines
- Write & maintain web scrapers, crawlers, and ETL processes
- Integrate with external APIs, datasets, and automotive data sources
- Manage and query relational databases (MySQL)
- Support Python-based scripts for data engineering or ML preprocessing (Python optional but helpful)
- Maintain cron
- jobs, automation tasks, queue-based workers, and ingestion pipelines
- Deploy and monitor scraping jobs, data flows, and microservices
- Optimise backend performance and data throughput
- Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Contribute to documentation, testing, and code review processes
🎯 What We’re Looking For
- 3–6+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience
- Strong experience with PHP
- Solid experience with Node.js (Express, Nest, or similar)
- Good SQL and database modelling skills (MySQL required)
- Experience writing and maintaining scrapers (Puppeteer, Playwright, Node, PHP, Python, or headless browser frameworks)
- Experience integrating and cleaning large datasets
- Bonus: Python (for scripts, ML team support, automation)
- Bonus: experience with queues (SQS, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub), cron jobs, serverless functions
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication and willingness to collaborate across teams
