The Junior Quantity Surveyor supports the QS team by assisting in quantity takeoffs, cost estimation, tender preparation, and project documentation for multi-disciplinary projects. The role helps ensure that tender submissions and project records meet required standards. Site visits during the pre-tender stage may be required. The Junior QS will prepare RFI’s for review by Senior Quantity Surveyors
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing accurate quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings for materials, labor, and other project components.
Support in preparing basic cost estimates under the supervision of Senior Quantity Surveyors, helping analyze project specifications and cost factors.
Contribute to the preparation of tender documents and assist in reviewing and organizing bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
Help monitor project costs and track expenditures to maintain alignment with the approved budget.
Support the administration of contracts by preparing change order drafts and basic documentation for senior review.
Assist in implementing cost control measures and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
Participate in identifying project risks such as cost variances or delays and support the team in preparing mitigation suggestions.
Assist in conducting site inspections to verify quantities and ensure work compliance with project specifications.
Prepare and update basic progress and cost reports for internal use and senior review.
Support in resolving minor quantity or cost-related issues by providing accurate data and documentation to project teams.
Job Knowledge & Skills
Basic knowledge of computer-based quantification systems; familiarity with CCS (Candy) is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD for quantity takeoff is preferred.
Understanding of Bill of Quantities preparation and standard measurement methods.
ERP knowledge (preferably SAP) is an advantage.
Job Experience
Minimum 1–2 years working experience in Quantity Surveying or related field.
