Production Engineer (FMCG)
Job Summary:
A Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing processes within an Egyptian pet food factory. This role focuses on maximizing efficiency, reducing waste, ensuring product quality, and maintaining compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, all while managing production line workers.
Role Considerations:
- Factory Floor Presence: Requires hands-on, on-site involvement to monitor equipment and supervise staff.
- Process Improvement: The role is not just about maintenance but also about continuously improving production methods and equipment efficiency to boost output and reduce cost.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise: Lead and manage the production line workers.
- Optimize: Improve manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
- Assure Quality: Work with the QA team to ensure products meet food safety and quality standards.
- Manage Equipment: Coordinate maintenance schedules and troubleshoot machinery.
- Report: Track production performance and material usage for management.
- Ensure Safety: Enforce and monitor health and safety policies on the floor.
KPIs:
- OEE: Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
- Waste/Scrap Rate: Track material loss during production.
- Production Attainment: Meet or exceed production targets.
- Downtime: Reduce unplanned production stoppages.
- Safety Incidents: Minimize workplace accidents.
Internal and external stakeholders:
Internal Stakeholders: Production workers, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Management, and Supply Chain.
External Stakeholders:
Equipment and material suppliers, regulatory authorities, and external auditors.
Pre-requisites (Education, Professional Experience and Competencies)
Education: A bachelor’s degree in production, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering
Professional Experience:
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Knowledge:
- Knowledge: Expertise in manufacturing processes, food safety systems (HACCP), and pet food production machinery.
- Abilities: Skilled in troubleshooting, data analysis, resource management, and project leadership
Technical Skills:
Proficient with reporting tools (MS Excel, ERP) and manufacturing techniques (Lean, SPC)
Soft Skills:
Strong communication, problem-solving, leadership, attention to detail, and adaptability.
